This cameo pendant is a reproduction of an original Bakelite cameo from the 1940s from which I created a mold and later a copy.
Whitby Jet was the material of choice for mourning jewelery in the 1800s. during the Victoria Era flowers began to gain special meaning. It was during the Victorian era that flowers were given a long list of meanings and the language of flowers was born. Cameos in the Victorian age were used to commemorate personages, as in ancient days.
